Scarborough Open Air Theatre

In December 2009, the Ingenious Live VCTs invested £2 million in a venture which exclusively co-promoted with Apollo Resorts a variety of live events at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, the largest open air theatre in Europe. The theatre seats over 6,000 people and is a major venue in the North East of England for theatrical performances, concerts, opera and dance.

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, officially re-opened Scarborough Open Air Theatre on 20 May 2010.

The Grand Gala Opening on 23 July 2010, saw powerful performances from Jose Carreras and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Other shows staged at the venue included Rewind The 80s Festival, The Big Comedy Campervan and several popular performances by Justin Fletcher, the Bafta award-winning children’s tv presenter and star of CBeebies Something Special in Justin Live.

In 2011, the venue staged a performance by Sir Elton John, which sold out in a record-breaking three hours. Other major shows included Rewind The 80s Festival (returning after 2010's sell-out performance), Last Night of the Proms and popular chart stars, N-Dubz.
