In December 2008, the Entertainment VCTs and Live VCTs invested £1.09m in a new two-day music event held in Henley-on-Thames; the Rewind Festival.
The event was a huge success and has been repeated every year since, with consistently impressive increases in attendance. In August 2011 audiences totalled more than 40,000 over both days, generating record profits. Highlights included performances from Village People, UB40, The Human League and Holly Johnson. 2012’s event featuring OMD and Kool and the Gang as headline acts is close to selling out in the fastest time ever.
The brand has now been launched internationally, with the first event outside the UK in South Africa in 2012.
2011 also saw the launch of the Rewind North festival in Scotland, which played host to artists such as The Human League and Tony Hadley. The event was attended by over 15,000 people.
The Rewind brand goes from strength to strength and a further international roll-out is under consideration for 2012 and 2013.
