In August 2010, the Entertainment VCTs’ (Ordinary and C Share) invested £2 million in SuperVision, a group which promotes and distributes alternative content for cinemas around the globe.
SuperVision is one of the leading owners and distributors of alternative content for cinemas in both the sport and entertainment fields. Its aim is to provide people with experiences that are the next best thing to being at the event, screening live, uninterrupted content, mainly in 3D format, accompanied by surround sound.
SuperVision’s technology partner is Arqiva, one of the world's leading satellite content distributors. Arqiva’s business model is to install satellite dishes in cinemas and deliver the signal. Supervision Media Holdings Limited is led by John and Daniel Webber, who are supported by an experienced management team. John Webber has long been one of the leading representatives of British talent, particularly in television and music. He created IMG financial management, which led the way in providing financial services to the sports and entertainment world. He also set up IMG Artist, which, over a seven year period, became the world's largest classical music management business, with revenues exceeding $100 million.
In July 2010 SuperVision distributed the Football World Cup in 3D and has subsequently secured the exclusive rights to show Formula One racing in cinemas.
The company also secured the exclusive rights to Michael Flatley’s Lord of The Dance in 3D, which was screened in major cinema chains across the US, UK and Europe in March 2011.
