Overview

In December 2009, the Ingenious Live VCTs invested £2 million to exclusively co-promote with Apollo Resort and Leisure, a variety of live events at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, the largest open air theatre in Europe. The theatre, which seats more than 6,000 people, will become a major venue in the North East of England for theatrical performances, concerts, opera and dance.

Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen officially reopened Scarborough's Open Air Theatre on Thursday 20th May ahead of schedule.

As part of the BBC month of Sport programme, the doors to Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre were opened to the public free of charge so they could soak up the electrifying atmosphere, watch the World Cup action live from South Africa and experience the new state-of-the-art facilities at the theatre.

The Grand Gala Opening of the venue is on Friday 23 July 2010, hosting performances from Jose Carreras and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Other major shows have been scheduled including “The 80’s Rewind Festival”, “Doves” (plus support acts), “The Big Comedy Campervan” and performances by “Justin Fletcher”, the Bafta award winning children’s presenter and star of CBeebies ‘Something Special in Justin Live’.

Tickets for the Gala Opening and the 80's Show are almost sold out, but tickets can still be purchased at:
